Predisposed to Wander
Americana singer-songwriter John Elwood Morgan is a true American troubadour, strumming and singing his way through life’s most meaningful moments. Endearingly monickered “The Sleepy-eyed Songster,” John’s sound is a musical confluence of the Appalachian mountain range and the southwestern desert. The result is an earthy and comfortable listening experience that is both relaxed and engaging, like swapping stories with an old friend. John combines influences from traditional folk, bluegrass, country, and blues to craft a unique, homespun sound and authentic stories in song. His new EP, New Skies, is available on all streaming platforms.
New Skies
“In 2019, I sat in a little hotel room, strumming through the chords that would become my song ‘New Sky.’ I was moving across country with my wife, and it would take all 2,035 miles to finish the song. Thus began a musical journey exploring what gives the word ‘home’ its significance. Many miles later, with the many songs, stories, friends, and experiences that came with them, I now present four songs that explore the meaning of place, home, and belonging. Here's to all our new skies.”

“Music that makes me wanderlust like this always finds a place in my heart. Morgan has a way of showing songcraft with subtlety and restraint, relying on forging a connection with his audience rather than demanding it. The EP shows a polished mix of roots music genres that Morgan taps into while still remaining something all his own, his lyrics standing out as a wonderful expression of storytelling. When presented on the beautiful bed of dynamic instrumentation and arrangement, the words come to life.”
